With a home office in Bowling Green, Kentucky, H&C also has offices in Louisville, Elizabethtown and Lexington, Kentucky as well as Nashville, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, and Gallatin, Tennessee. The Legal Secretary is primarily responsible for scheduling appointments, typing attorney pleadings and correspondence, scheduling court appearances, checking service of complaint, and must have the ability to juggle priorities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow practices and processes that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company standards, and serve the needs of our clients. This includes a commitment to a process of continuous improvement.
Comply with company policies and procedures, including but not limited to, the company’s attendance policy.
Perform general secretary duties (dictation, correspondence, handling of mail).
Prepare guardianship paperwork, scheduling court hearings for minor’s files
Proofreading and make grammatical and spelling corrections on legal forms
Schedule client calls
Prepare correspondence in support of the work of Legal Assistants (loss of consortium and other form letters).
Back up clerical support for assistants (mail, copying, faxes)
Perform other duties within the employee’s training and skills as directed by Core Leader
No supervisory responsibilities
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Display true passion for client and community service
1 year previous Legal Secretary experience in a law firm or comparable industry required.
Demonstrated ability to work and communicate professionally, verbally and in written form with clients
Ability to work independently without regular direct supervision
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
